Fox Footy Channel to Close?

The Fox Footy Channel is a cable channel which broadcasts just AFL Football.

Foxtel’s flagship Fox Footy Channel is facing possible closure after the AFL grand final in September.

Negotiations between the new free-to-air rights holders – the Seven and Ten Networks – and Foxtel over the allocation of games is progressing slower than expected.

Foxtel chief executive Kim Williams told The Australian he wanted to continue with AFL, but “not at any price”.

Should Fox Footy be scrapped, AFL games would still be seen on subscription TV, possibly on a new Fox Sports 3 channel.
